iPad Basics

You have had your iPad for a few months. Come explore the iPad settings that you may not have seen. Discover how gestures can enhance your experience. Try out some basic apps that will increase your productivity on your device. Then, let's spend some time troubleshooting together and move on to sharing exciting ways to use your iPad.


iPad Launchpad 1
August 9th 8:00 am – 11:00 am
FHS Large Lecture Hall

This course will focus on some of the Launchpad applications that are on the Common Instructional Protocols website. The main focus will be:
  • Safari: This is the iPad web browser. You will learn how to search and view the web, how to use the Reader icon, create bookmarks, add to your reading list, and much more.
  • iBooks: This is your home for documents and books. You will learn how to access digital books, bring in .pdf files, and bring in ePub books.
  • ShowMe/Educreations: These are your whiteboard apps that allows you and your students to create sceencasts with recording and pictures. Learn how to do all of these things and more.
  • Nearpod: This app allows you to create multi-­media presentations with formative assessment that can be synchronized with student iPads.


iPad Launchpad 2
August 9th 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

This course will focus on some of the other Launchpad applications that are on the Common Instructional Protocols website. The main focus will be:
  • Creative Book Builder: This app allows you and your students to create ePub books right on the iPad.
  • Dropbox: This app allows you to move files on and off your iPad and between computers. It is an online version of a flash drive.
  • Google Docs: Learn how to use Google Docs and Google Sites to create and share documents and information online.
  • PDF Writers: Find out how to open and annotate PDFs on your iPad.
  • iMovie: This will be a short overview of iMovie. For a more in-­depth class, please attend the iMovie on the iPad class on August 8th.
